Sometimes sitting on the fence is a positive…it gives you a perfect view of both sides of the situation.  At Sponsorfinder we have experience of sponsorship from both sides of the fence, and can offer expert, professional services whatever side you’re on, whether you're on a sponsor search, or looking for good sponsorship opportunities.

Our sponsorship consultants include:

An award-winning former head of sponsorship for a FTSE 100 telecoms PLC

The former head of commercial rights for a major sports governing body

An accomplished entrepreneur with extensive sports trade experience and a track record in securing major sponsorships

The biographies in the Our Team section illustrate the wealth of experience that Sponsorfinder possesses.  We also have a network of similarly qualified practitioners who can be called upon to supplement the work that we do, and an association with sponsorship legal experts, Spring Law.

We are committed to working closely with you to explore all the opportunities your proposition presents and to identifying how and where that proposition is most likely to succeed. We spend time understanding your specific commercial needs, and your organisation’s ethos, to finely tune the list of potential sponsors.

Depending on your budget and requirements we offer two levels of sponsorship-finding service: Full Sponsorship and SF Direct. We also offer a Full Commercial Audit service.

Full Sponsorship Service

You will enjoy our considerable attention; we only handle a few assignments at any one time. The package comprises:

Sponsorship Audit: We carry out an audit of your specific circumstances, opportunities and key assets. We look inside your organsation and also benchmark you against other external competitors.

Report & Recommendations: We provide a full commercial report at the end of the audit that recommends how you should position yourself to best effect, the ideal type of sponsor to target and the approximate value you may achieve in the marketplace.

Sales Materials: We will work with you to develop the sales resources that will be required to secure the attention of and provide all the necessary information to prospective sponsors (eg. Introductory letter, powerpoint presentations, e-campaign, DVD).

Sales Campaign: We will draw up a shortlist of target companies and undertake a programme of selling on your behalf, involving you and your organisation as much or as little as the situation requires. You will receive regular reports on our progress and feedback from the market.

Fee Structure:  The amount we charge as a retainer will vary according to the complexity of the project and the time involved.  However, as a guide we typically seek an initial retainer in the region of £2,000 plus VAT per month for an initial period of 6 months, which includes a two month period of meeting with you to fully audit and understand the proposition, set up the presentation and prepare the initial target lists etc.  This is followed by a period of intense sales activity to find your sponsor. This is an indication only and we would be happy to discuss your own proposition in detail on the phone.  Just call us.

In the event that a sponsor is secured, we charge 15% of the fee for the first three years of the agreement. However, the initial fees may be offset at this stage, thus enabling you to reclaim your initial investment and also benefit from new sponsorship income.

Full Commercial Audit

At the end of the day, it is all about generating incremental and profitable revenue, whether that be from sponsorship or from other sources. Although our core focus is sponsorship, we do also have expertise in all of the other possible commercial revenue streams (licensing, merchandising, affinity marketing, media rights etc) and can therefore carry out a full commercial audit. Please ask us for more details.

Are you already sponsoring, or looking to sponsor?  Despite our name, we don't advocate that sponsorship is the default route to brand visibility and business success. It simply forms part of the overall marketing mix and, if undertaken, needs to dovetail with other activity and the mission of the organisation. Some companies operate successfully without adopting sponsorship, whilst others have it at the very heart their operation - it defines who they are.

We have a great insight in to the potential sponsorship opportunities that exist in the marketplace, the relative values of each and the specific benefits that they deliver. We are currently working with a range of rights holder clients, from Haymarket Exhibitions at the very commercial end of the spectrum to Guide Dogs for the Blind in the charity sector.

However, we also relish the chance to shape the strategy for companies who are trying to work out what they should sponsor.

We would look to help you establish the right approach for you.  Without a clearly-defined, effectively-managed approach to sponsorship you could:

Perpetuate the flow of sponsorship requests. Organisations/causes do not necessarily expect to get support every time they submit a proposal, but your brand will be damaged if such requests receive little or no feedback and the interaction is not managed with clarity and purpose.

Potentially make some bad investment decisions. An absence of clearly defined criteria for sponsorship may mean that some approaches will be actioned despite no sustainable rationale. For example, it is very easy to back projects that have personal interest for board members, but do they have relevance for the business?

Pass up some fabulous and cost effective ways of promoting your brand and ensuring that you are viewed in a dynamic manner by customers, supplier and staff.

Pay over the odds, or not extract the maximum deal, when deciding to enter in to a sponsorship agreement and then possibly not execute the programme to its optimum.

In essence, we:

Provide expertise and experience in a specialist discipline without the need to recruit and sustain additional overheads.

Offer strategic sponsorship consultancy skills that clearly establish the objectives for sponsorship and corporate entertainment (Do you need to? If so what type? Sport, The Arts, Music or all of the above? Own event? Etc) Our team includes the former Head of Sponsorship at BT, Paul Leonard, who claims to have received nearly 50,000 sponsorship proposals during his career at the telecoms giant.  Yet he swears he actioned no more than 15 of them - because he was clear and consistent about his filtering criteria and what type of sponsorship would enhance and reflect the BT brand.

Act as buffer between you and people seeking sponsorship; we can deliver the harsh but fair messages.

Can wade through every request for funding and only present you with the best opportunities. The analogy is one of an A&R man in a record company - we listen to every CD and we try to ensure that a Robbie Williams opportunity is not missed!

Communicate your objectives and parameters to the sponsorship marketplace so that inappropriate requests are eliminated at source and great opportunities are identified at an early stage.

Negotiate the best possible deal for you if you decide to sponsor or source hospitality, thus saving you money or contractual heartache.

Can help manage the ongoing relationship with the partner so that all your contracted rights and obligations are delivered.

So, whether you're on the search for a sponsor, looking to sponsor or are already sponsoring, contact us.
