Paul Leonard
Paul is a man who has clearly made his mark as a consummate professional in the sponsorship arena. With great energy, insight and drive he has, over 30 years in the business, been the driving force behind some of the industry’s major and most talked about sponsorship initiatives.   He spent 30 years at BT where, as Head of Commercial Sponsorship, he implemented a strategic framework for sponsorship activity and, importantly, helped re-position BT as the UK’s leading communications company through salient and imaginative associations which showcase the range of BT’s capabilities and expertise – especially in the area of online communication.
 
One of the most widely talked about and admired sponsorship partnerships established by Paul are:
  • BT’s relationship with Tate Online as the first and exclusive sponsor of Tate Online, an initiative which scooped a Hollis. Sponsorship Award 2005 for ‘Sponsorship Continuity’ and which has won 11 industry awards overall.
  • In 2004, Paul was the impetus behind BT’s involvement as a Premier Partner in the London 2012 Bid.
  • Scottish Rugby Union and a host of other properties including the England Rugby Team, Capital Radio’s Flying Eye, Damon Hill in his F1 world championship winning year and many more.

In 2006 Paul was awarded the coveted ‘Sponsorship Personality of the Year’ at the Hollis Sponsorship Awards.
